An excellent opportunity to join an established mid-sized start up looking for an experienced Software Engineer to build and maintain robust, low-latency, highly-available and scalable systems, processing massive data streams and handling millions of requests in real-time.
The role requires you to set up and integrate databases, develop new data schemes and work out new innovative ways of storing, representing and querying the data. You will join an Agile team of seasoned engineers that enjoy working in a challenging start up environment, solving lots of new problems. The team enjoys challenges, the quality of code work and pushing to build, faster, better, more powerful applications.

THE ROLE
We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer that will build and maintain robust, low-latency, highly-available and scalable systems, which will process massive data streams and handle millions of requests in real-time.
This client takes great pride in its work, sharing a focus on code quality and embracing best practices.
This role will suit someone who:

REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years+ experience developing software in a commercial environment
- Agile software development (Scrum/Kanban).
- Worked with relational and in-memory databases.
- Experience developing and testing with Python or Go.
- Experience with distributed source control systems (Git), Pull request and Code Review processes.
- Some degree of expertise in *nix-like systems, scripting and using command-line tools.
- Used continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Travis, Bamboo…).
- Comfortable working in a Linux/MacOSX development environment.
- Experience with big data in relational and in-memory databases
- Experience with other languages (JavaScript, Java…) and with RESTful APIs.
- Strong experience working with AWS, or similar IAAS providers and experience with distributed source control systems (Git), Pull request and Code Review processes
- Worked with queue/messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka…)
And it would be good to have the following experience:
- Experience with other languages (JavaScript, Java…)
- Worked with RESTful APIs.
- Used Docker (or similar) in development or production environments.
- Worked with queue/messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka…)
- Amazon CloudFormation.
- AWS or similar IAAS providers
- Knowledge of Ansible (or similar technology).
- Developed following TDD/BDD.
- Pair programming. Clean code principles.
- Experience with big data streaming and processing pipelines (Hadoop, Kafka…)
- A Computer Science Degree, or equivalent.
- Any personal/open-source project we can take a look at.
